Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested a suspected one-chance armed robber with a pistol in Suleja.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, May 6, 2024, said the suspect, Kelechi Unanka, claimed he received the pistol from someone whose name he couldn’t remember.
“On 04/05/2024 at about 1330hrs, Police patrol team attached to ‘A’ Div Suleja intercepted two persons on a motorcycle at Suleja junction heading to Kaduna road, and on sighting the patrol team, the motorcycle rider zoomed off to escape from the team, while they were pursued,” the statement read.
“Consequently, one of the suspects named Kelechi Unanka, 25yrs of Pape, Abuja was arrested with a bag containing one baretta pistol, with an empty magazine, while the second suspect named Victor (a.k.a Pastor) escaped.
“During interrogation, Kelechi claimed that he received the pistol from someone he could not remember his name, however, the suspect will soon be transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution.”
