The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a phone snatcher, Sani Musa, who stabbed a 24-year-old woman, Sheba Simon, in Damaturu the state capital.
The spokesperson of the command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, May1, said the suspect confessed to the crime.
“The Command Police Response Unit ( Haba Maza) in a joint intelligence, led operation with the State Intelligent Department and personnel of C Divisional Police Headquarters have apprehended One Sani Musa AKA (Regis Oga Soja) aged 22 years old of Nayi nawa ward, Damaturu,” the statement read.
“On 30th April 2024 at about 2330hrs, the culprit was napped with his pants down in a hideout in possession of the snatched cellphone, Itel A663LC / MTN Sim Card, and assorted charm i.e talisman
“The culprit unequivocally confessed to the commission of the crime when interviewed by police
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, expressed relief and described the operation as effective, and timely, and encouraged officers to maintain the tempo and make Yobe State no hidden place for criminals
“He appreciates good members of the communities for their unwavering support in the fight against crime.
“Meanwhile, discrete investigation has commenced on the matter, and proactive measures are employed to avert future occurrence as the command calls for collective efforts in this gesture.”
