A 24-year-old Nigerian man whose identity is yet to be ascertained reportedly killed his 22-year-old roommate after an argument in Portugal.
The incident occurred around 11 pm on Friday night, April 19, 2024.
It was gathered that both the deceased and the suspected killer were residents of a local accommodation space on Rua do Bonfim, Porto.
According to Portuguese newspaper, Jornal de Noticias, JN, the two Nigerians had an argument that ended in a violent attack, with the older man hitting his partner several times with a sharp object.
After spending several hours with the body in the room, the killer tried to leave the place but ended up being arrested by the PSP.
The Judiciary Police were called to the scene and are investigating the incident
Ângela Bragança, an employee of “Angel Coffee”, a commercial establishment across the street from where the crime took place, saw the body when she arrived at work on Saturday morning.
“I came by bus, half past seven, I crossed the zebra crossing and saw the body inside the accommodation, already closed, on the floor. It was the only thing I saw. What caught my attention was the rubbish bin being out of place,” she said.
Ângela told JN she did not know the victim or the attacker.
“I know that yesterday I helped two young men who entered the hostel, but I don’t know if they are the ones. As a rule, local accommodation customers come here because this is a cafe that opens early and closes late, but there has never been anything like this,” she added.
