Woman arrested for beating former daughter-in-law over groceries

A Zimbabwean woman identified as Sheila Kambasha has been arrested and arraigned in court for allegedly assaulting her son’s former wife, Nono Kiposa, following a dispute over groceries meant for the upkeep of her grandchild.

Local news platforms reported that Kambasha reportedly confronted Nono, the daughter of Sport FM radio presenter AK, regarding the child’s welfare.

The incident occurred after Nono received a call from Kambasha requesting an emergency meeting regarding her child. The meeting took place at Nono’s parents’ house in Chiwaridzo Phase 2, Bindura, and the lady was accompanied by her current husband.

During the confrontation, Kambasha expressed dissatisfaction with Nono’s alleged neglect of her child’s needs. In response, Nono explained that she had not provided the requested groceries due to her health condition. Unfortunately, the situation escalated, leading to physical violence. Kambasha reportedly assaulted Nono in the presence of her mother, son, and other siblings.

Nono, still in recovery from surgery, was unable to defend herself during the altercation. The incident was subsequently reported to the Chiwaridzo police station, resulting in Kambasha’s arrest.

It was further gathered that Nono is puzzled by Kambasha’s insistence on the groceries, especially considering that the child’s father is a civil servant, reportedly single, and should bear financial responsibilities.
